Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran, born March 10, 1949, is an American businesswoman and investor. She is also a speaker and consultant, a columnist syndicated, speaker as an author, author, and television personality. The Corcoran Group, an NYC-based real estate brokerage was started by Corcoran. NRT bought it in 2001 for $66 million. Corcoran later left the company. Corcoran is one of ABC's initial Shark investors was a featured guest of each episode of Shark Tank. In February 2020 Corcoran had signed 53 deals, the largest being a $350,000 investment which was able to cover 40% of Coverplay. Corcoran was the second of 10 kids born to a working class Irish-Catholic couple living in Edgewater, New Jersey. Florence Corcoran's mother was an errand-taker. Her father, Edwin W. Corcoran Jr., bounced from job to job throughout Corcoran's early years. At times, her family relied on deliveries of free food from a local grocery store. Corcoran states that her father was drunk who treated her mother with disrespectful and disrespect. Corcoran was a struggle in school, and eventually discovered that she was dyslexic. Corcoran attended a Catholic primary school within her area and began high school in St. Cecilia High School, Englewood. Corcoran was proficient in a variety of courses her freshman year. She was transferred to Leonia High School and graduated with a D.
